Firstly I would like to start off by thanking everyone who has donated this month to get us closer to purchasing VB4 and progressing the community forward! :thumb:

As some of you know we had a vacant Events Coordinator spot open for a few weeks now and we have decided to refill this position to ensure of more BWGT, fun events and some possible raffles coming up very soon.

Please join me in congratulating our two new Event Coordinators; Bob Loblaw & President Shadow! These two have shown dedication to the community and are always trying to develop the community and put forwards fresh new ideas.

This person is responsible for managing all special events within the community.

* Manage/Promote special events on our servers
* Make sure servers are ready for all special events
* Schedule events to fill servers in need via the steam community
* Organise competitions within the community

the dedi needs windows updates and a bit more of a thorough dusting, so all the servers will be going down at once for I hope no more then 2 hours.

This community continues to grow, and with that growth has come a particular set of interesting challenges that a select group of community members has helped with since SG was ZM. They have toiled mostly in obscurity, only known when something breaks.

Generally not well acclimated to light, girls (or boys), sports, or in some cases a diet that exists beyond the realm of pizza, they are the techies, the geeks, and the hardware snobs.

Since ZM was formed til now, small improvements have been made to integrate these people into the community with newer ranks (TA/TD) some of the old LG ranks were also created for techies who were too lazy to do anything but advise on fixing problems, but never on the scale to rival the work or time spent on admining and such (with a few notable exceptions!)

However! In a secret laboratory, deep under your moms basement (or as some of you call it, the lair or the keep, the love shack, or w/e D&D reference is in vogue with this weeks campaign)We have been busy tinkering, drinking, and building a giant clone vat facility to grow train and create the ultimate in technical geekery and IT services.

Sadly that failed when tink got drunk one night and dared blargh and potshot to chug the biomatrix fluid since it smelled like beer. after cleaning that up the next morning and getting sammiches made, I sat down to continue in our quest!

So Backup plans were enacted, Cloud's mom was called, and really bad jokes about starcraft ripping off gamesworkshop, so we should rip off starcraft and roll it into an inside techie (not to be confused with trekkie. live long and prosper we dont, but propagate your sql tables we will!) joke . and thus, the Noc-ling was born.

These people are the cream of the crop, or the bottom of the beer barrel, when it comes to SG and its tech support needs. From programming languages, to hardware and software support, to our planned expansion into graphics design help and support for mapping etc. These are the people who not only work in the background, but have all agreed to further step up beyond their stated duties and personal time to help the community with its variety of technical issues.

You can recognize them via the award under their avatar (it will be one of these)







and via their forum signature bar, which will be one of these or possibly a variation in the future of this design. (Each Tech can customize this to their own needs)







please note, the wearing of the signature bar when not a known member of the Noc-lings means I can and will go edit your signature with things like you love horse porn and then give your name to the other techs so we can "lose" your requests in the mass of work we have. :thumb:

You may also notice people sporting a similar looking award with TSA on it. This is the Technical Services Achievement award, and While these people may not be in the Group, they have worked with Me to help make SG what it is today on the technical side, so they deserve your respect.

Just wanted to do a quick thread, to keep you all updated.

As most of you know, we are buying VB4 at the end of the month, so that's something to look forward too.

We will do a lot of re-styling, and cleaning up, but it all depends on what we decide, but we feel we need to give the forum a good once over!

Servers are doing great, and running fantastic, thanks to the tech team for that!

Paul managed to bring surf alive again, which is fantastic! :D Make sure you check it out :thumb:

We have a few SAs taking the step up to Community Advisers. Congrats to Boobcake, Veggie, Psyche ,Trogdor.

The duties that the Community Advisers perform for us include:

* Advise the higher staff in important decision
* Keep servers clean from rule breakers
* Issue warnings/kicks/bans
* Manage the maps played
* Record demos proof for perm bans
* Request perm bans via the forum
* Post in game server problems on forum
* Help in any way to make the servers fun

On another note we have one promotion to the Legends group. This rank is a highly respected rank and not just anyone can earn this. Please join me in welcoming Mercy to the legends group.

Their new duties will include:

* Look cool in their italic yellow font
* Keep servers clean from rule breakers

This month our donation goal is set at $600.00. As many of you know we have dropped one of our dedicated server which will lower our future goals, but not this month. This month the donations that would have paid for the second dedi server are going towards purchasing VBulletin 4.0 which will be an integrate part of developing our new website.

So far we are off to an OK start but will need to step up the donations if we plan to make our goal by the end of the month. We do not want to fall short of our goal like we did last month. If you can afford to part with a few bucks this might be the month to do so. Next month I plan to set the goal at around $350.00. That should be our standard goal if we can stick to only having one dedicated server.

update 5:45 am 7-8-10 Gmod sourcebans and admin integration is complete, as is the single user crash files updated.

update 12:22 pm 7-8-10 gmod TTT is back and on full load testing.

update 5:10pm 7-8-10 surf and Defuse are up, defuse will be tweaked with Kigen anti cheat as time permits

update 6:10 trikz is live with the old version of the menu, please test it and if needed we can go back to the crazytricks menu easily.

update 730pm PB is live and stable. all servers done

We will be doing extensive maintenance to the servers and the website tonight and into early this week.

This will be installing Sourcebans, Sourcemod, and migrating the users and bans over from Globalbans.

Please note, This will be extensive work, and I do NOT know how long each individual server will be down, however I will be going one server at a time to reduce the overall issues with the level of work involved.

I apologize in advance for major service interruptions, but It will be worth the wait.

Further updates and a running list of which servers are down or working normally will be posted here, and updated as necessary.


EDIT/Update
the hosting service is having a cooling problem in our dedi area, so we will have to wait for now while they stabilize that, That being said, that is the reason for the lag and bad server performance.

Updates on that will also be posted as needed.
